JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Production Manager, this position is responsible for achieving production plans, SOPs, safety, quality control and performance management. The manufacturing supervisor supports the work of NPR to achieve its goals by providing leadership and supervision to production associates, planning and assigning work, implement policies and procedures, and recommending improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Production Supervisor is responsible for managing performance of the team in terms of Safety, Quality, delivery, Cost, and Morale by means of, but not limited to, the following:
- Responsible for overall employee and equipment performance on the assigned shift
- Responsible for achieving Company production targets and initiates corrective action when targets are not met.
- Keeps management informed of production-related issues
- Assesses manpower needs to meet production schedules
- Maintains time and production records and enters all production data into database\Manages production department performance measures (monthly, weekly and daily) including visual controls. Provides regular progress reports to management.
- Responsible for scrap reduction program and 5S activities during the assigned shift
- Monitors equipment operations to ensure all products are run to standard production specs and production schedule
- Initiates or suggests plans to motivate associates to achieve work goals
- Manages production department performance measures (monthly, weekly and daily), including visual controls. Provides regular progress reports to management.
- Performs material handling duties as needed or assigned
- Coordinates activities with other shift supervision
- Recommends measures to improve production methods, working conditions, facilities maintenance, layouts, equipment use and performance, and quality of product
- Conducts tests and inspections of products, services or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
- Ensures quality systems are followed and maintained.
- Performs pre-production initial flow quality control
- Performs quality process audits and responds to findings.
- Initiates and ensures adherence to cost-savings measures
- Maintains a clean, safe and secure work environment by enforcing safety regulations, reporting and performing accident investigations, responding to safety or environmental issues and following up on corrective actions.
- Ensures machinery is operating properly by monitoring and adjusting controls, gauges, dials or other indicators
- Assists with performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed
- Participates in employee hiring and retention. Develops and delivers performance reviews and coaching on performance improvement
- Responsible for time keeping, tracking absenteeism and administration of company policies and procedures.
- Ensures effective employee relations by communicating, coaching, mentoring, training, and assisting with employee development
- Leads and participates in problem solving activities with their team as well as cross-functional support staff.
- Works to continuously improve processes, productivity, cost, safety, quality and employee relations.
