This is a professional position involving the recruitment, program enrollment and case managing of youth ages 14-26. Responsibilities include student assessment of their education, training and employment needs and then working with the youth to achieve the established goals. You will have many tools at your disposal as you advocate and work with your caseload. Setting up job shadowing experiences, subsidized and unsubsidized work experience, providing financial supportive services and post-secondary training costs, job fairs, apprenticeships, talent tours at local industry are just a few of the activities you will be involved with. You may be involved with facilitating job clubs or workshops teaching employability skills.
Partnerships with local high schools and community colleges as well as agencies will be important as you help youth navigate towards sustainable employment and or further education.
We are looking for a person that is energetic, innovative, creative and can mentor, coach and lead in a positive action manner. You will be part of an amazing team located out of our Petoskey Service Center where you will interact with our staff from other programs including Learning Lab, Business Services, Employment Services, and our Jobs for Michigan Graduates programs. You will also be part of the bigger team that encompasses the 10 county area, and our staff from our other three Service Centers which are located in Traverse City, Cadillac, and Manistee.
