The next step is to mature our ability to drive a MACH (Microservices, API-driven, Cloud Native and Headless) approach across functions and the enterprise, in order to give Whirlpool greater competitive advantage through information technology, data and analytics. The degree and speed of success will be a function of the quality and speed of building and scaling new technology driven innovations.
The Head of Whirlpool's Global Technology Products Engineering oversees all aspects of designing and developing applications across the full spectrum of the business processes including IoT, retail, consumer, web/mobile, and supply chain. This role is responsible for staying on the cutting edge of software engineering practices and cloud technologies by leading, implementing and creating products/solutions that enable Whirlpool's strategic imperatives. She/He is also expected to act as the driver of commercial technological innovations so that the rest of Whirlpool's IT department may realize benefits to advance technological capabilities. In addition, as a partner with multiple business units, the Global Head of Engineering will shape the technology strategy across go to market, retail, marketing, ecommerce, consumer, and supply chain for the company.
This role in summary
Partner with Whirlpool Businesses, Functions, Product Development and Data & Analytics teams, and cross-functional teams to inform, influence, and support products, solutions and strategies that leverage cloud applications to create additional value for our various stakeholders.
Lead a dynamic, accomplished team that delivers solutions/products across various functional areas such as Marketing, Ecommerce, Consumer Services, Commercial Analytics, Manufacturing, IoT, Category Management, and others.
Provide leadership in design and development of applications and architecture and be responsible for end-to-end solutions that translate into enhanced consumer experiences, business growth and improved profitability.
Be responsible for global strategy development, road maps and execution of Software Engineering and Solution Architectures and implementation of these strategies globally, working closely with product teams and regional CIOs
Ensure flawless execution of DevSecOps and CICD across all products that are deployed across multiple business units
Anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, make trade offs, and balance business needs against technical constraints
Drive continuous visibility of results/value-driven from the global engineering team to all levels of the organization
Cultivate a culture that encourages continuous growth, sharing of best practices, methods, and intellectual properties across regions
Continuously keep up-to-date with the latest approaches and advances and own strong connections with key technology partners including Google, AWS, etc.
Qualifications
BSC Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline with a minimum of 10 years of industry experience.
Proven leadership experience in developing global strategies, roadmaps and implementation plans.
Strong understanding of the technological landscape in cloud, DevSecOps, CICD, testing automation, cloud native architectures (AWS and Google Cloud is a plus), microservices, headless and APIs, with focus on Java, Python, React, Angular as key programming languages
Proven leadership experience in driving projects under tight timelines.
Experience in interacting with Senior Executives.
A minimum of 5 years in roles that create a tangible business impact through building and scaling global technology solutions required.
Demonstrated experience working in a global environment and with Agile methodologies
Excellent communication, interpersonal, verbal, and written skills are required.
Demonstrated experience in hiring, retaining and scaling geographically dispersed, high-performing teams.
Demonstrated leadership and mentorship abilities and team building experiences is required.
Proven problem-solving skills required.
Ability to take complex and/or technical concepts and describe them in easy to understand business terminology is required.
