Oakland HOPE Donation Sorter - Back Room –
The Thrift Store Donations position at Oakland HOPE works with the TEAM who is responsible for the day-to-day operations, of a fast-passed, volunteer-driven, growing non-profit. Oakland HOPE Thrift Store funds our Client Choice Food Pantry. Candidates should possess strong and approachable human service abilities, customer service, attention to detail, aptitude for multi-tasking, ability to communicate clearly and delegate as well as the capability of working effectively and independently with staff and lead daily volunteers who will be working with you. Be friendly, smile and extend grace under-pressure.
We are looking for immediate hire. 1 Full-time position
Position Description
- Executing daily operations of Thrift Store donations and dock utilizing staff and volunteers working together toward a common goal
- Participate in promoting the atmosphere of TEAM-work and camaraderie with staff and volunteers throughout the store.
- Working with groups of 1-10 volunteers at one time, encourage and communicate effectively your expectations to daily volunteers and communicate through to the successful completion of projects
- Accept donations, clean and price donations, organize and merchandise our Thrift Store, pricing, tagging, merchandizing, rotating, and purging inventory to ensure a constant flow of new inventory and create an inviting shopping experience
- Must be self-motivated, work well under deadlines, you must be able to work in a constantly changing environment.
- Communicate and direct volunteers. You are responsible for their success! Communicate, delegate, expectations and follow-up with volunteers
- You must be punctual for work attendance, scheduled work and breaks.
You will work under the direct supervision of the Executive Director and work closely with the other Department Managers
