Under limited supervision and in accordance with established policies, procedures, guidelines, and patient care plans, performs a variety of direct patient care activities. Provides positive interactions and safe environment to maximize patient well being. Notifies manager of any significant patient care issues.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Communication skills and specialized knowledge of basic Psychology or Sociology theories and practices at a level normally acquired through completion of an Associate's degree in Psychology, Sociology, or one year previous work experience as a Mental Health Technician and enrollment in a degree program. BCLS certificate and CPI training required within agreed upon timeframe.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Secured patient care environment with controlled temperature, noise, dust, and the like. Possible (up to ten percent of work time) exposure to communicable diseases and infections when working with patients. Possible (up to ten percent of work time) exposure to physical injury from working with combative patients. Ability to work extended hours in order to ensure staffing coverage on closed unit.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in adult mental health services.
G 16 Pay Grade $13.57 minimum hourly rate
This rate is the minimum pay for the position. Actual compensation will be based on education, years of experience, and other factors at the time of offer.
