Responsible for daily preparation of lunch and dinner for approximately 40 KKG sorority members during the academic year. Maintains safety and cleanliness in kitchen area, maintain inventory, and prepare shopping list, purchase inventory items, and stock foods on shelves. Develop weekly menus with House Director and KKG members.
Plans meals in conjunction with the House Director and the House Chair.
Prepares list and grocery shops.
Prepares lunch and dinner for sorority residents five days a week.
Plans and prepare meals with the House Director and the House Chairman for all special occasions.
Ensures food items are available for breakfast seven days a week.
Provides and/or prepares food for lunch and dinner for weekends.
Trains and supervise the kitchen crew. (The House Director trains servers to set up, serve and clear tables.)
The Cook and House Director will maintain an on-going inventory in the commissary.
The Cook will attend weekly meetings with the House Director to set goals and exchange information to promote the smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen.
Responsible for the removal and disposal of leftover and/or expired food items.
The Cook is accountable to the House Director and the House Board for kitchen operations.
Qualifications

Education and Experience
This position requires a high school diploma plus two years of experience in meal preparation or an equivalent combination of education and experience, sufficient to demonstrate the ability to perform the job.
Physical Requirements
- Average physical strength. 2. Ability to use both hands, walk, see, bend, stoop, climb, and safely lift up to 50 lbs in order to operate cooking equipment/utensils and move ingredients.
Other Skills
- Customer service techniques. 2. Knowledge of MIOSHA, Michigan Health Dept., and Dept. of Agriculture regulations 3. Computer and Microsoft Office 2016 proficiency. 4. Ability to understand and convey written and spoken instruction. 5. Basic cooking, culinary, and dietary knowledge. 6. Knowledge of safety procedures.
