ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
MSN degree Required. Consideration may be given to candidates who have completed majority of MSN program.
Encouraged to obtain certification in specialty area of practice.
Experience in the clinical area in which application has been made is desirable.
Is a self-directed professional who is able to function autonomously in a leadership role to assist and support staff nurses in decision-making and problem-solving clinical issues related to the delivery of nursing care.
Assess the skill levels of new employees and determines the extent and duration of orientation and training required.
Demonstrates ability in using the computer with Windows format preferred.
ORGANIZATION
Accountable to the Unit Manager or designee of the assigned patient care unit.
Provides direction to and supervision of RNs, LPNs, Techs, Clerks, Nursing Assistants, and/or other categories as needed.
Works collaboratively and effectively with all members of the Patient Care Team

Assessment
Collects health data in a systematic and ongoing manner involving the patient, family, and other health care providers as appropriate.
Determines the priority of data collection based on the patient’s immediate condition or needs.
Documents relevant data in a retrievable form.
Diagnosis/Problem Identification
Derives diagnoses from the assessment data. Validates with the patient, family, and/or other healthcare providers and documents.
Assists staff in developing and maintaining competency in the diagnostic process
Identification of Outcomes
Involves the patient, family, and other healthcare providers in formulating outcomes from the diagnosis that are individualized and includes a time estimate for attainment.
Determines outcomes that are culturally appropriate, realistic, attainable and measurable.

Individualizes a plan of care with the patient, family, and other health care providers that prescribe interventions to attain expected outcomes.

Documents the patient’s responses to the interventions.
Uses the results of the evaluation analyses to make or recommend process or structural changes, including policy, procedure or protocol documentation, as appropriate.
