Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Cell/Molecular biology or Biochemistry or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Three years’ experience in a facility with general analytical and preparative laboratory methods. Experience with protocol design, development, implementation, and analysis. Training and experience in digital image acquisition and analysis. Ability to productively manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to efficiently and effectively maintain infrastructure, including instrumentation, consumables, and project records/materials. Capable with current Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent organizational and analytical skills. Ability to communicate effectively with others.
Desired Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Neuroscience. Recent experience in development, maintenance, and analysis of Murine models for investigating neurosensory defects. Proficiency with: 1) genotyping/sequencing for mouse colony development and maintenence, 2) cardiac perfusion for aldehyde fixation of Murine tissues, 3) statistical analyses for biomedical research, 4) computer graphics for image analysis (i.e. – Photoshop, Image J), 5) Zeiss Apotome use for immunohistochemical analyses.

Position Purpose
This position provides specialized scientific expertise and capacity in support of the OU research and teaching missions. In combination with a variety of capital-intensive equipment, dedicated laboratory space, and expert faculty supervision, the Laboratory Coordinator contributes to a nationally competitive and externally funded independent research program that investigates the role of vertebrate photoreceptor structure for inherited retinal degenerations. The Laboratory Coordinator contributes to the OU teaching mission by mentoring and training students pursuing independent research projects in the lab.
