The Powertrain Advanced Simulation and Synthesis Manager is responsible for leading and managing fuel economy, acceleration performance, capability (e.g. trailer tow) and drivability foundation analysis for new powertrain concepts using computer modeling techniques and test data evaluation. The manager leads a team of engineers responsible for performing the related simulation and analysis of powertrains and vehicles. The manager drives the analysis, target setting and concept development for new powertrains include advanced engine, transmission, driveline and electrification technologies. The manager communicates these results in oral and written reports to executive leadership. In addition, the successful candidate works with management counterparts in powertrain engineering, and planning to establish and achieve powertrain functional targets that meet competitive requirements.
Basic Qualifications:
•Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Physics, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Industrial, or Computer Engineering, or related Engineering field from an ABET accredited university
•Minimum 10 years of engineering experience
•Powertrain experience including knowledge of powertrain systems, controls, calibration, and drivability
•Experience managing large and complex data sets
•Excellent management and leadership skills
•Excellent communication and presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications:
•Master of Science degree in Applied Physics, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Industrial, or Computer Engineering, or related Engineering field from an ABET accredited university
•Strong Matlab and Excel skills
•Experience creating virtual models to simulate performance, fuel economy, drivability and capability as well as correlate these models to real world results
•Familiarity with EPA fuel economy regulations and procedures
•Experience in evaluation of vehicle capability and drivability
•Knowledge of advanced powertrain technology
•Experience with electrified powertrains and modeling of electrified powertrains
•Experience with diesel powertrains and modeling of diesel powertrains
•Engine and/or transmission calibration and diagnostic experience
•Fluent in the use of tools related to calibration and diagnostics
