Job Description
The primary mission is to provide aerial fire detection and aid fire suppression efforts within the State. Other flights are on request from other divisions or agencies, as well as to maintain proficiency. Flights may include the use of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). Non-flying duties include performing routine and non-routine maintenance on Department aircraft as well as various duties as assigned by the manager.
Required Education and Experience
Education
Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.
Experience
Two years of experience piloting single and/or multi-engine fixed wing aircraft or helicopters and completion of 750 hours flying time, not less than 200 hours of which must have been gained within the last two years.
Possession of an Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic Licenses is desirable.

Aircraft Pilot E12
Possession of FAA commercial pilot's license with single-engine land, and/or multi-engine land, and instrument ratings.
Some positions within this class series are assigned job duties that may require knowledge of fire behavior, fire suppression strategies and tactics, and fire suppression organization.
