Position Summary
The position contributes to ensuring the financial well-being of the College by performing daily and monthly compilation, reconciliation, and analysis of the College's financial transactions and statements in accordance with the principles of accounting.
Qualifications
Required:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting
• Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience
• Experience working in Microsoft systems
Preferred:
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
• 1+ years of public-sector Accounting Firm experience (non-profit or governmental experience a plus )
• Experience with Banner software
• Supervisory experience
Essential Responsibilities
(Critical) Analyzes, maintains, and reconciles all financial accounts; records and adjusts entries through the integrated information system. (Critical) Prepares monthly financial/budget comparison reports and Board of Trustees financial projection reports.
(Critical) Prepares and maintains College financial records/documents for annual audit.
(Critical) Completes state and federal financial reports according to guidelines of reporting agencies.
(Critical) Assists in the preparation of NMC budgets.
(Critical) Oversees the preparation of depreciation schedules and annual schedules for the fixed assets.
(Critical) Supervises others in accordance with NMC's policies and applicable laws such as: interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and recognizing employees; addressing performance problems or gaps.
(Critical) Develops, documents, and recommends procedures to improve systems, internal controls, and operational practices.
(Critical) Implements approved procedures through procedural changes through effective communication.
(Critical) Oversees compliance and reporting for federal and state grants.
(Critical) Manages the payroll system and oversees cash management.
(Critical) Other duties as assigned.
