Description
In addition to performing all aspects of the Surgical Technologist I, the Surgical Technologist II serves as a preceptor for new colleague orientation. The Surgical Technologist II has the ability to handle critical situations in a positive manner and demonstrates higher collaboration with colleagues to resolve patient care issues.
Responsibilities:
Assists in orientation process of new employees, including serving as preceptor.
Demonstrates higher collaboration with colleagues to resolve patient care issues.
Must show an interest in learning and applying knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
May close skin under direct supervision of surgeon.
Performs other duties consistent with purpose of job as directed.
Qualifications
Required:
Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program.
Certification from the Association of Surgical Technologists or the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) to be obtained within six months of promotion (if not all ready certified), or, if grandfathered, must maintain the same continuing education requirements as Certified Surgical Technologists. Failure to maintain, or obtain certification within one year of promotion, and/or continuing education requirements by expiration date will result in downward transfer including reduction in pay.
Minimum of 9 months experience at MNM if new graduate or minimum of 2 years previous experience in this field.
BLS certified.
