Job Title: Management Information Systems Specialist
Job Status: Full-Time
Job Summary: Under limited supervision, the Management Information Systems Specialist functions as an internal project lead on database/information gathering software initiatives and provides ongoing direct end-user support and training pertaining to these areas. Reports to the Information Technology Director and works closely with the Information Technology staff to ensure the success of these projects and to ensure Information Technology security standards are met.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Work closely with department directors to achieve their data collection and reporting goals using existing applications, or through the implementations of new ones, including building forms within applications and writing reports using SQL
Create documentation and provide ongoing training for staff pertaining to the use of information systems utilized throughout the organization
Function as a highly available support mechanism for end-user issues within these applications
Work closely with the Information Technology department to resolve application issues that are technical in nature
Create data entry guidelines and standards and develop quality assurance practices to validate these standards are being met
Promote, document and anchor standard operating procedures regarding systems and software
Operate in a proactive environment and seek out continuous improvement opportunities for the department
Focus on exceeding expectations related to gathering data pertaining to company and customer needs, and use the information to identify, predict, interpret, and evaluate the system and network requirements
Operate standard office equipment and use required software applications
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
Blackbaud products such as Altru
Netsmart products such as myEvolv
Microsoft Dynamics NAV/Serenic
SQL (with an emphasis on writing SQL queries) for the purpose of producing custom reports
Best practices pertaining to access rights when storing sensitive information such as electronic health records
Skill in:
- Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications for program area and other applications, including Microsoft Office
Ability to:
Quickly learn and implement new applications as required
Gather information, identify linkages and trends and apply findings to assignments
Interpret and apply policies and identify and recommend changes as appropriate
Organize and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
Provide a high level of customer service
Establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization
Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:

At least 3-5 years of experience working in a Management Information System capacity with an emphasis on implementation and configuration
Experience working with (implementation/configuration) systems containing electronic health records
Any equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training approved by Human Resources

Working Conditions:
Hours: Normal business hours, some additional hours may be required
Travel Required: Local travel, up to 20%
