POSITION PURPOSE
Plans and coordinates the operations of financial analysis and budget as assigned. Activities include, but are not limited to: financial review of historical, current, and proposed operations, analysis of programs and services, cost accounting, and service line-profitability analysis. Also provides various forms of analytical support to Leadership, management, and other customers as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides oversight and support to for all aspects of the SJMH Ann Arbor and Livingston as it relates to operating budget, financial forecasting or financial analysis as assigned. Reviews staff work related to Systems operations including the evaluation of new and existing programs, productivity, benchmarking, and other integrity and reasonableness of data. Looks for/suggests ways to maximize SJMHS financial position.
Coordinates the development, review and implementation of operating budgets, capital budgets, and multi-year strategic financial plans. Ensures compliance with organizations policies, procedures and guidelines. Manages a staff of financial services consultants, financial analysts, or data analysts that work on operating budget, capital, ad-hoc financial analysis. Provides financial data to administration, departments and committees to support projections and analysis of key budget components.
Manages the maintenance of operating budget data on all financial reporting systems. Ensures the accuracy and integrity of the data. Oversees ongoing variance analysis for multiple units: analyze, investigate, and determine the reasons for major deviations from budget. Maintains presence and visibility throughout the organization by participating on various teams, work groups and committees. Promotes the organization’s quality improvement process through ongoing continuous improvement of work processes, enhancing customer satisfaction and financial performance, while improving finance’s meaningful quality indicators. Integrates finance with system operations by exhibiting approaches to work that embody honest communication, collaboration, initiative and proactivity.

Inspires a shared sense of mission and achievement among team members. Interviews, hires, trains, mentors and evaluates department associates. Keeps abreast of current developments in healthcare including regulations, managed care, capitation, integrated delivery systems, etc. Participates in the coordination of changes in operations due to regulatory decisions, technology or changes in service delivery. Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships.

Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patients, physician’s associates, and visitors. Discusses patient and operational information only among appropriate personnel in appropriately private places.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance or an equivalent combination of education and experience. MBA/CPA preferred.
Five to seven years of progressively more responsible related work experience in health care finance, including financial analysis, accounting, cost accounting, information systems and operations.
