THE ROLE
The Director of Communications is responsible for Cornerstone Schools' communications strategy and execution, ensuring prospective families, staff, donors, and partners understand the Complete Life mission and competitive advantage of Cornerstone Schools. This person works closely with Cornerstone's CEO, Chief Strategy Officer, Operations, Enrollment, and Human Resources teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Brand management to support enrollment, recruitment, stewardship, and brand awareness. Design integrated programs that meet the organization's short and long-term goals, including enrollment and retention goals and strategic recruiting efforts.
- Change management communications.
- Provide counsel and rapid response on reputation-impacting issues.
- Manage all press and media relations.
- Set social media strategy and review content to ensure alignment with culture.
- Participate in leadership strategy sessions, retreats, and weekly Executive Council meetings.
- Manage website SEO and maintenance projects, including managing the website vendor and guiding web strategy based on user research and desired user experience.
- Build and promote internal communications campaigns to foster teacher/staff engagement.
- Manage department resources, including one Communications Specialist and vendor partners for design, website, production, and other marketing/communications services.
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates will have:
- A minimum of seven years of relevant experience; previous experience with education is preferred.
- Ability to work under pressure in high-stakes situations
- Excellent time management, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven track record of integrated communications programs that meet goals for lead generation, conversion, loyalty, and retention
