Position Summary:
Responsible for ensuring maximum cost effectiveness and reliability towards manufacturing flow, processes and equipment. Determines processes for sequences of manufacturing operations on new and existing products in accordance with manufacturing requirements. Ensure that current equipment, fixtures and processes meet customer quality and safety requirements and are ergonomically sound for manufacturing. Also responsible for designing fixtures, establishing programs, leading activities related to manufacturing equipment, processes and facilities to achieve desired production goals and quality standards.
Scope/Supervision and Interaction:
This job has supervisory responsibility for maintenance, manufacturing, or other technical personnel. This position routinely interacts with all division functional department managers and employees. Provides technical information regarding equipment, fixtures, processes and facilities as required. This position requires the individual to work well with others and provides support to manufacturing as required.
Essential Functions:
Coach, lead, develop and manage maintenance employees; plan, monitor, and appraise job results; identify training needs and develop objectives for employee development.
Evaluates capital equipment investments and prepare cost justifications. Designs and prepares concept drawings of new equipment or modifications to existing equipment. Manages the overall implementations of capital equipment projects.
Identifies and implements solutions for issues relating to safety, quality, productivity, and cost reductions.
Coordinates with building contractors and ensures building safety and adherence to applicable building codes and related safety and environmental regulations. Insures compliance with city, state, and federal laws, codes and insurance regulations.
Investigate and analyze the cost and reliability of various manufacturing equipment, fixtures and processes.
Establish, recommend and manage critical checks (PM's) to keep equipment properly maintained.
Proven project management skills, focusing on equipment acquisition and implementation along with improvements to existing equipment / processes.
Efficiently design fixtures, detailed drawings, etc., on existing and new manufacturing equipment, fixtures and processes.
Must be a team oriented person who works well in an energetic and fast-paced environment and perform other duties as assigned or as dictated by priority and responsibility.
Perform hands-on troubleshooting with existing manufacturing equipment, fixtures and processes.
Provide timely status updates on all assigned projects, and be highly organized and efficient.
Provide continual development improvements in equipment and/or processes, keeping up to date on the latest manufacturing technology.
Qualifications:
BSME/BSEE or related field.
2-5 years experience in manufacturing engineering.
Must possess strong mechanical aptitude, ability to use basic measuring tools, and hands-on capabilities to work on projects without supervision.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Working knowledge of 5S, lean manufacturing, TPM, cell concept, value stream mapping or similar experience, capability preferred.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Lotus Notes preferred.
CAD knowledge with fixtures design experience, AutoCAD/Mechanical Desktop or Inventor preferred.
Knowledge of PLC's, automation, or robotics is a plus.
