Sanford Behavioral Health, Michigan, is seeking a full-time House Manager for our beautiful Women’s Recovery House on Cherry St, located in the Heritage Hill Historic District of Grand Rapids. We prefer someone with a background in substance use disorders.
Role and Responsibilities
- Performs general clerical duties of copying, faxing, mailing, and filing.
- Ensures protection and security of files and records.
- Performs receptionist duties including answering telephone calls, giving referrals, and greeting visitors.
- Is the point of contact for families, clients, and staff if there are any questions or concerns.
- Maintains office supply and household inventory.
- Supervises service management of facility and equipment repairs, including supervision of maintenance on van. Contacts appropriate staff for needed attention and repairs.
- Works with the HR Generalist to source and screen possible new hires.
- Provides orientation for new Resident Support Specialists.
- Lines up training, schedules and attends monthly Resident Support Specialist/Clinician meetings.
- Manages the Resident Support Specialists’ schedules and duties. Authorizes and fixes Resident Support Specialists payroll hours.
- Provides support for residential support specialist team, managing residence issues in cooperation with the clinical team.
- Relays pertinent daily clinical and medical information to residential support specialist team.
- Attends training and staff meetings as assigned.
- Schedules Resident Support Specialist meetings and assist with scheduling of whole house staff meetings.
- Maintains and updates the register of past and current clients.
- Assists with conflict resolution among clients and be prepared to intervene as required.
- Facilitates assessment groups with clients and enters individualized progress notes in the EMR.
- Performs drug screens and breathalyzers on clients and records results. Maintains UA’s and breathalyzer paperwork. Sends UAs to lab and monitor lab results.
- Completes intake process and conducts client orientation to premises.
- Administers medication as prescribed by physician in accordance with medical procedures.
- Assists with patient medical care as directed by the medical team.
- Conducts daily room checks to ensure chores are done appropriately.
- Discharges clients, ensuring necessary paperwork is signed and medications and belongings are returned.
- Supervises the Resident Support Specialist while they clean and set up the residents’ rooms upon a patient’s discharge.
- Provides transportation for residents’ needs, as appropriate.
- Assists in scheduling appointments for clients and transports as needed.
- Administers and collects Wellness Surveys and Client Satisfaction Surveys.
- Serves on the Health and Safety Committee and ensures residence is CARF compliant with scheduled emergency drills on all shifts, quarterly vehicle safety inspections, and semi-annual safety self-inspection of premises.
- Tracks and keeps Critical Incident Reports.
- At all times, observes and respects clients’ individual rights, confidentiality and adheres to Sanford House’s personnel code of ethics.
- Provides support to Resident Support Specialists by being available as needed during evening, overnight and weekend shifts.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Minimum two years college education, preferably in social sciences or behavioral health field, required.
- Recovery Coach Certification or willingness to become certified within the first year of employment, required.
- Unrestricted Driver’s License, required.
- Current certification in CPR/AED and First Aid or willingness to become certified within the first year of employment.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality on all client records and business-related records, as required under HIPAA guidelines.
- Attention to detail, efficient time-management skills.
- Knowledge in the field of chemical dependency and mental health.
- Ability to supervise staff to ensure efficient and appropriate care is given to clients.
- Strong problem-solving ability.
- Capable of monitoring the facility and grounds, including the ability to ambulate up and down stairs.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds.
- Must be able to perform repetitive tasks such as typing for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to clearly express and exchange ideas by means of spoken words to impart oral information to employees or others accurately or quickly, engaging in sometimes lengthy conversations or presentations.
- Must be able to ascend and descend stairs daily.
- Must be able to seize, hold, grasp, turn or otherwise work with your hand or hands.
- Must be able to perceive sound by ear to interpret oral information from employees or others accurately or quickly.
- Work will be performed in a home environment with fluctuating temperatures.
