Diverse service company seeking a Safety Director in Mid-Michigan. The Safety Director will develop, coordinate, and implement occupational health policies and procedures to promote and ensure effective safety operations. Familiarity with the Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) rules and regulations preferred. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the essential functions listed below.
Essential Functions:
- Knowledgeable and ensures customized compliancy with OSHA and other governmental laws and regulations in health and safety, particularly related to the Department of Transportation (D.O.T.), Construction, Automotive, and General Industries.
- Provides clearly defined goals and progress of overall safety program in correlation with the on-site Safety Coordinating Supervisor.
- Serves as a consultant and company representative in the event of a regulated investigation.
- Directs, develops, and implements safety activities through various means of communications.
- Directs, develops, and implements procedures, trainings, prevention, investigation, and reporting in correlation with the on-site Safety Coordinating Supervisor.
- Develop, assess, and promote an organizational environment that values and encourages professional development, diversity, opportunities of growth, and a self-safety culture in correlation with the on-site Safety Coordinating Supervisor.
- Develops and performs risk management of all positions in the company in correlation with the on-site Safety Coordinating Supervisor including identification, assessments, reduction/mitigation, and monitoring.
- Performs and oversees safety audits in correlation with the on-site Safety Coordinating Supervisor.
- Knowledgeable of PPE requirements and oversees applicable trainings in correlation with the on-site Safety Coordinating Supervisor.
- Develops, supports, and follows through with the implementation of applicable trainings customized to the industry and direct company position held in correlation with the on-site Safety Coordinating Supervisor.
Requirements:
- Proven work experience and/or education.
- Have current knowledge of Federal, State, and local laws.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Multitasking and analytical skills.
- Exceptional writing and organizational skills.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree Occupational Health/Safety or similar field or minimum 5 years related industry experience with a combined related degree. Familiarity with the Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) rules and regulations preferred.
