Position Description:
Grand Rapids Label Co., a family owned and operated business for over 130 years based in Grand Rapids, Michigan is a dynamic and rapidly growing printing company. We are seeking a Labeling Systems Service Technician/Customer Service Representative to join our successful team. Candidates are hard-working individuals who are honest, eager to learn, mechanically inclined and have great people skills. All responsibilities for this role will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Primary Responsibilities – Labeling Systems Service Technician:
- Provides effective, proficient and timely service/repairs to all customers in direct support of the sales and service efforts to gain and maintain customer loyalty.
- Troubleshoots equipment problems, including fault isolation and diagnosis at Customer locations to ensure equipment is operating at maximum level.
- Grows the service business in the territory through the selling of service parts, billable labor and travel, and coordinating with sales to identify and close service contracts.
- Individual must be a self starter; task oriented position.
- Willingness and ability to work extended workweek including nights and weekends.
- Installs and services labeling equipment.
- Inventory Control.
Primary Responsibilities - Labeling Systems CSR:
- Serves as the customer service contact between GR Label & Labeling System customers.
- Ensures customer satisfaction by building relational rapport, gaining knowledge of customer needs and resolving issues in a prompt manner.
- Enters orders and follows them through to shipment (includes vendor interface).
- Obtains quotes for parts, ribbons, labels, and printers.
- Receiving & shipping of parts & equipment, requiring knowledge of shipping processes.
- Maintains inventory.

- Working knowledge of personal computers & MS Office products, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Needs to have excellent relationship-building skills.
- Must be able to handle multiple functions at the same time and maintain good organizational skills.
Work Experience Requirements:
- Knowledge of relevant labeling application technologies; or completion of necessary training within one year of hire date.
- Advanced Mechanical ability
- Demonstrates proficiency in the maintenance, assembly and installation of equipment
- Minimum of 1+ years experience as a service technician
- General understanding of adhesives and substrates
- Basic electrical knowledge
- Basic computer knowledge
- Valid driver’s license
Education Requirements:
- High School diploma / GED. Bachelor’s Degree in related field of study preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, walk, stoop & lift up to 50 lbs.
