The Pediatric Medical Assistant position fills many essential roles for the clinic to funtion effectively.  Responsibilities include: direct patient care, effective communication between co-workers, coordination between patients, resources and more.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the direction of the Health Care Providers and/or Medical Director, including but not limited to: EKGs, injections/immunizations for children and adults, visual and audio tests, chaperoning durinig sensitive exams, assisting provider during minor procedures, fill in for front desk as needed.
• Appropriately chart all necessary patient information in the EMR
• Identify critically ill paitents that need immediate attention and inform provider
• Assist providers with patient follow-up and other necessary tasks in the best interest of the patient
• Keep all exam rooms stocked and clean
• Ability to use all aspects of Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR)
• Have a full working knowledge and understanding of the Vaccines for Children (VCF) program
• Deal with all paperwork in appropriate fashion (scanning, filing, faxing etc.)
• Proper use of all lab equipment and lab tests
• Obtain all patient communication and direct to appropriate parties according to timelines set by clinic protocol
• Prepare and administer vaccines correctly based on the vaccines indications
• Responsible to the Office Manager, Lead Medical Assistant and Medical Director
