- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, events, and responsibilities at the same time.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with residents, business owners, elected officials, staff, community organizations, and outside agencies.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, solve problems, follow through on assignments, and move projects from concept to completion.
- Ability to research grant programs, funding sources, business resources, and community-development opportunities and clearly summarize findings.
- Ability to establish positive working relationships and collaborate with a wide range of community and economic-development partners.
- Professional judgment, discretion, reliability, and the ability to appropriately handle information encountered while supporting City administration.
- Comfort with public meetings, community events, presentations, and representing the City in public settings.
- Proficiency with standard office technology, email, word processing, spreadsheets, online research, social media, and website content management, or the ability to learn applicable systems.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Education, training, or experience in public administration, business, communications, marketing, economic development, community development, event planning, grant work, or a related field is preferred.
- Relevant professional experience may be considered in place of formal education beyond high school.
- Valid driver's license and the ability to travel locally as necessary to attend meetings, events, and business- or project-related activities.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working with businesses, local government, a DDA, EDC, chamber of commerce, nonprofit organization, community-development organization, or similar entity.
- Experience with grant research, grant applications, funding programs, project coordination, event planning, public communications, or community engagement.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive hourly wage based on experience and qualifications ($20.00-$22.00 per hour)
