Description We are looking for an experienced Legal Assistant to support a fast-paced litigation practice in Troy, Michigan. This position is ideal for a highly organized individual with strong attention to detail who can manage competing priorities, communicate effectively, and keep case materials accurate and up to date. The role requires strong technical proficiency, confidence with court filing procedures, and a proactive approach to tracking deadlines and supporting attorneys throughout the litigation process.
Responsibilities:
Prepare, revise, and finalize litigation documents for filing, service, and internal case use.
Coordinate electronic submissions with state courts and ensure filings meet formatting and procedural requirements.
Maintain organized case files, correspondence, and supporting records so materials are easy to access and current.
Track court dates, response deadlines, and other key milestones to help keep matters moving on schedule.
Support attorneys with day-to-day litigation administration, including document handling and follow-up on pending items.
Manage calendars and assist with scheduling related to hearings, filings, and other case activities.
Review documents for completeness, accuracy, and proper formatting before submission.
Communicate clearly with attorneys, court personnel, and other contacts regarding case-related documentation and timing. Requirements
At least 2 years of experience as a Legal Assistant in a law firm environment.
Experience with civil litigation procedures and court-related documentation.
Hands-on knowledge of state court filing and electronic filing processes.
Strong ability to organize files, manage deadlines, and handle multiple priorities with accuracy.
Proficiency in preparing and formatting legal documents for filing and case support.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a dependable, self-directed work style.
Medical malpractice litigation experience is a plus.
