Primary Purpose of Position

To work within the Die Cast Department to efficiently and effectively set-up and operate equipment within a die cast cell to ensure a quality product is produced and delivered that consistently satisfies or exceeds our customer’s expectation.  

Major Responsibilities of Position

• Every employee has the responsibility to comply with all safety rules, quality procedures and processes established by MPA

• Independently troubleshoot equipment or quality problems produced by the machine

• Assist maintenance, tool room and engineering personnel in the repair and continuous improvement activities

• Meet customer production schedules
• Achieve and maintain uptime targets
• Achieve and maintain acceptable scrap levels
• Maintain good communications with peers, function leaders and managers
• Work in cooperation with other departments to achieve business objectives
• Monitor and control the quality and process of the parts produced.
• Guide and direct the general duties working with you at your assigned machine/cell. Escalate all concerns to the Team Leader and/or Supervisor in a manner that supports a productive working environment.
• Work within the MIOSHA company rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of the company EMS/ISO 14001 Standards
• Knowledge of the IATF quality system as it pertains to this position including; quality policy, non-conforming materials, and customer specific requirements.
• Perform other tasks and duties as assigned

• Must have completed Step-up/new operator training check list including attendance & quality targets
• Must have regular and punctual attendance
• Must be able to follow directions of a supervisor
• Must be cooperative with other employees
• Must be quality conscious with an emphasis on operating to the Work Instruction
• Be familiar with hydraulics and pneumatics or willingness to learn.
• Be familiar with the operations of the Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) or willing to learn.
• Ability to communicate in English both orally and in writing, effectively
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment
• Ability to communicate, educate and coach new team members
• Fluent in English

Physical demands:

• Ability to stand, walk, climb, twist, bend, grasp and lift – occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds
• Visual requirements include; ability to visually inspect work performed
• Talk and hear
• Must have the ability to tolerate the above requirements for a minimum of 8 hours daily

 Work Environment

• Automotive manufacturing environment; shift work, i.e., five-eight-hour shifts for 40 regular hours per week with overtime as required.

• Shop Environment: 75% of the time, includes exposure to industrial safety hazards, loud and sudden noises, hot/humid conditions; standard tools available

• Production Environment: 25% of the time, includes exposure to industrial safety hazards, loud and sudden noises, hot/humid conditions. Extreme temperatures during the summer and winter months can be expected
