Job Summary
A Lead Teacher is assigned to each group of children within our center and is responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of the children in their care. Our goal is to provide a happy, nurturing environment not only for the children we serve, but also for our staff. We are seeking energetic, dedicated, motivated, and caring individuals to join our team in this leadership role.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Lead caregivers are responsible for:
- Overseeing the planning, implementation, and evaluation of classroom activities and child assessments
- Managing caregiving staff assigned to a specific group of children
- Providing overall care, supervision, and support for children in the classroom
- Maintaining a safe, positive, and developmentally appropriate learning environment
Requirements
- Must be at least 19 years of age
- High school diploma or GED required
- Must be available to work at least 6 hours per day, Monday–Friday
- CPR and First Aid Certification required within 90 days of employment
- The employee is responsible for the initial certification cost
- Heaven’s Elect covers renewal certifications every two years
- Must complete a comprehensive background check prior to contact with children
- Must complete all training required by the State of Michigan
Qualifications
- CDA or higher preferred
- Must meet state licensing childcare lead teacher requirements
- Experience managing and supervising large groups of children preferred
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Passion for working with children in a faith-based environment
