Position Summary:
Central Michigan University seeks a full-time Counselor to provide mental health services supporting the emotional health and well-being of CMU students. This is an in-person, non-teaching faculty position providing short-term counseling, crisis intervention, outreach, and consultation services.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide culturally responsive and identity-informed individual, couples, and group counseling.

Maintain approximately 25 client contact hours and 12 paperwork hours per week.

Provide crisis intervention services during office hours.

Conduct campus outreach and prevention programming on mental health topics.

Consult with colleagues, faculty, staff, and parents.

Participate in scheduled staff meetings and professional development.

Collaborate with campus partners and other Counseling Center staff.

Follow Counseling Center scope of practice and procedures.

Maintain professional, ethical, and legal standards required in Michigan.

Maintain appropriate Michigan licensure and related continuing professional development.
Required Qualifications:

Master's or doctoral degree in counseling, clinical psychology, social work, or related field.

Eligibility for Michigan licensure within 1 month of the start date.

Clinical skills in short-term counseling and crisis intervention.

Understanding and application of cultural humility when serving a diverse student population.

Ability to provide mental health outreach programming.

Experience working collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
