Green Scene Landscaping Inc. seeks 8 Full-time Landscape Technician positions at 954 E. Remus Rd., Mt. Pleasant, MI 48858 and multiple worksites within Isabella, Clare, Mecosta, Kent, and Gratiot counties in Michigan.
Job Duties:
Perform landscape labor and grounds maintenance using hand and power tools. Tasks include laying sod; mowing, trimming, and edging lawns; planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, and raking soil; and removing litter and debris. Operate equipment such as push and riding mowers, tractors, skid steers, sod cutters, chainsaws, pruning saws, and sprayers. Prune or trim trees at ground level by cutting dead or overgrown branches; trim shrubs, hedges, and flowers; and attach support wires to newly planted trees. Apply fertilizers, herbicides, and insecticides to grass, shrubs, and trees with hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders. Mulch, aerate, weed, and maintain flower beds; plant seeds, bulbs, trees, shrubs, and flowering plants; spread topsoil or straw; and install mulch for protection. Build and install landscape features such as garden borders, retaining walls, walkways, and water features, using mortarless interlocking concrete masonry blocks and hand tools. Maintain sidewalks, driveways, fountains, planters, and parking areas. Remove snow and spread salt on walks, driveways, streets, and parking lots. Maintain and clean tools, equipment, and worksites to ensure proper functioning and safety. Workers will be exposed to outdoor conditions, varying temperatures, and noise, and must use protective equipment. The job requires attention to detail, physical stamina, responsibility, and integrity.
Special Requirements:
Workers will perform physical activities such as lifting, balancing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
Terms and Conditions of Employment:
The work schedule is from Monday-Friday 7:00 AM until 4:00 PM. The worker may be offered more than the stated hours per day, depending on weather and other conditions. Extreme heat, cold, rain, or drought may affect exact working hours. Work on Saturdays may be required when necessary. The wage rate is no less than $16.00 per hour with at least 40 hours per week. Overtime hours are available as needed varying from 1-20 hours. Overtime rate of pay is $24.00 per hour. This position is regular, full-time, and permanent. The employer will use a single work week as its standard for computing wages due. Workers are paid bi-weekly by check or direct deposit.
In accordance with applicable Michigan state law, Earned Sick Time Act 338, employers are required to provide earned sick time to their employees. The amount of paid sick leave provided may vary depending on the size of the business.
