RESPONSIBILITIES
- Patient Care:
- Provide basic care, including monitoring vital signs like blood pressure and temperature.
- Observe, assess, and document patients' medical history and physical condition.
- Medication Management:
- Verify medication dosages and oversee administration.
- Manage medications such as Methadone and Vivitrol, ensuring compliance with DEA regulations.
- Use systems like MAPS for medication information verification.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping:
- Enter, transcribe, and maintain patient information in both written and electronic forms.
- Team Collaboration:
- Participate in treatment team activities, contributing to assessments and evaluations of patient well-being.
- Collaborate on treatment plans with team members.
- Diagnostic Procedures:
- Perform diagnostics such as EKG, phlebotomy, and venipuncture.
- Prepare specimens for lab analysis.
- Patient and Family Communication:
- Explain treatments and procedures to patients and their families or legal representatives.
- Supervision:
- Supervise medical support staff, ensuring they have necessary training and certifications.
- Compliance and Confidentiality:
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Ensure all licensure and certification requirements are current, including BCLS certification and DWIHN programs.
- Certification and Training Requirements:
Licensure and CME Trainings:
- Hold a valid license relevant to the healthcare role.
- Engage in Continuing Medical Education to maintain licensure and stay updated on medical practices.
BCLS Certification:
- Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support is essential for emergency response capabilities.
DWIHN Detroit Wayne Connect (DWC) Online Mandatory Trainings:
- Complete the mandatory online training system specific to Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network providers.
- Improving MI Practices (DWIHN Requirement):
Participate in programs focused on enhancing substance use disorder, mental health, and integrated care practices in Michigan.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Completion of state approved training program, diploma, certificate or associate degree
- LPN license (pass NCLEX-PN exam)
- BLS certification
- 1 year of recent nursing experience
- Computer and internet basics, capable of web-based navigation and data-entry
