Position Summary:
The Accountant provides financial accounting support to the university community, ensuring compliance with GAAP, GASB pronouncements, and applicable federal and state accounting regulations. The position analyzes financial records, prepares reports and reconciliations, supports audits, develops accounting procedures, and provides SAP system support and training.
Key Responsibilities:

Monitor, review, and analyze financial transactions across assigned university funds.

Reconcile university-wide bank accounts monthly.

Research GASB pronouncements and IRS requirements and support related policies, procedures, and tax forms.

Research accounting discrepancies and assist departments with financial and budget reporting.

Prepare financial statements, supporting documentation, and variance analyses.

Prepare schedules, reconciliations, and analyses for internal, external, state, and federal auditors.

Support accounting and auditing requirements for grants, contracts, PBS, NCAA, and other assigned funds.

Create and maintain SAP chart-of-accounts data and financial reports.

Test SAP financial module updates and collaborate on new system functionality.

Provide SAP training to employees.

Develop specialized SAP reports for management and campus departments.

Complete SAP month-end close procedures.
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree, preferably in accounting or related field, or equivalent experience.

One year of qualifying accounting or finance experience.

Experience with an ERP accounting system and advanced Excel; experience with other Microsoft Office applications.

Strong organizational, analytical, and attention-to-detail skills.

Ability to meet deadlines, communicate effectively, and work in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications:

Fund accounting experience.

Higher education experience.

ERP report-writing experience.

Knowledge of SAP.
