Lead Infant/Toddler Teacher – Full Time

Position Summary
Building Blocks Childcare & Preschool Center is seeking an experienced, caring, and dependable Lead Infant/Toddler Teacher. This full-time position is responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment for infants and toddlers.
The ideal candidate understands early childhood development, can effectively lead a classroom, and is committed to supporting each child’s physical, social-emotional, language, and cognitive development.
Primary Responsibilities

Plan and implement developmentally appropriate infant and toddler learning experiences.

Maintain a safe, nurturing, clean, and organized classroom.

Provide attentive care, including feeding, diapering, toileting, rest routines, and personal hygiene.

Supervise children closely and maintain required staff-to-child ratios.

Develop consistent classroom routines that support children’s individual needs.

Use positive guidance, redirection, and age-appropriate behavior-management practices.

Observe children’s development and maintain accurate classroom and developmental records.

Communicate professionally with parents and guardians about their child’s needs, routines, development, and daily activities.

Provide direction and support to classroom aides and assistant teachers.

Prepare classroom materials, lesson plans, and learning activities.

Follow all childcare licensing rules, center policies, health and safety procedures, and confidentiality requirements.

Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and required training.

Report injuries, illnesses, developmental concerns, and unusual incidents to the director.

Assist with maintaining a welcoming and supportive environment for children, families, and staff.
Required Qualifications

Current Child Development Associate credential (CDA required), with an Infant/Toddler endorsement preferred.

Previous professional experience working with infants and toddlers is required.

Must be at least 18 years old.

High school diploma or GED required.

Knowledge of infant and toddler development, classroom routines, and appropriate caregiving practices.

Ability to lead a classroom and work cooperatively with other staff members.

Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.

Must successfully complete all required background checks and health clearances.

Must obtain or maintain required CPR, First Aid, and childcare training.

Reliable transportation and consistent attendance are required.
Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.

Ability to sit on the floor, bend, kneel, stand, walk, and move quickly when necessary.

Ability to safely supervise children indoors and outdoors.
Position Type
Full-time position. Availability is required during the center’s operating hours, Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The employee’s specific work schedule will be assigned by management.
