Purpose: Laser Operator is responsible for operating laser cutting machines to fabricate metal components according to customer specifications.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Operate laser cutting machines to fabricate metal components according to blueprints/ specifications.
- Use precision measuring instruments to verify the accuracy of the laser cutting process including pin gauges and calipers.
- Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on laser cutting machines and other equipment.
- Complete necessary training and certification to operate hi-lo equipment safely and efficiently as needed to perform job duties.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Acute attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to apply logic to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Familiarity with basic hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency to meet scheduled daily goals.
- Ability to retain and recall critical information relating to procedures, programs, customer specifications and material/tool requirements for a wide range of jobs.
- Mechanically inclined.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently.
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1+ year as a Laser Operator or metal fabricator.
Requirements:
- Ability to read/write/speak in English
- Ability to stand throughout entire shift with frequent bending and twisting.
- Ability to lift 50lbs occasionally.
- Hi-lo certification may be needed to perform job duties and requires a valid driver’s license.
- May be required to perform other jobs outside of your department as needed.
