Position Summary
The Gaming and Technology Academy of Saginaw (GATA) is seeking dedicated and dynamic SPED 1:1 Paraprofessionals to join its team.
GATA is opening in Fall 2026 and is seeking innovative, passionate professionals who want to help build something different from the ground up. GATA is designed to be a highly engaging school where academics, technology, creativity, competition, and real-world learning come together through gamified systems, hands-on experiences, and strong relationships to prepare students for the future.
This is a federally funded position and is contingent upon the continuation of grant funding. The SPED Paraprofessional is responsible for providing one-on-one assistance and instructional support to students while aiding instructional staff in meeting the objectives of the instructional program.
Responsibilities of Position
- Provide one-on-one or small-group tutoring.
- Provide instructional support services under the supervision of a teacher.
- Provide monitoring services during testing sessions.
- Assist with the Title I program and complete necessary program paperwork.
- Prepare the classroom for subsequent instruction.
- Supervise students participating in learning center activities, including the computer lab, library, media center, and other instructional environments.
- Read to students, listen to students read, and assist with explaining assignments.
- Provide appropriate assistance to students based on their individual instructional needs.
- Respond appropriately to all levels of supervision.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Candidates must meet at least one of the following requirements:
- Have completed at least two (2) years of study at an accredited institution of higher education, consisting of a minimum of 60 credit hours.
- Possess an Associate Degree or higher.
- Meet a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrate through a formal state or local academic assessment:
- Knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics; or
- Knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics as appropriate.
- Achieve passing scores on the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC):
- Basic Skills; or
- Professional Readiness.
- Achieve a passing score of 460 on the ETS ParaPro Assessment.
- Achieve a passing score on the WorkKeys assessment.
