Day to Day:
Insight Global is looking for a Patent Engineer to join an automotive client in Ypsilanti, MI. The person in this position will be responsible for identifying, developing, and protecting innovative technologies for future vehicles. They will work closely with engineers across all North American R&D departments to review and develop invention disclosure and guide them through the company's patent process.
Additional responsibilities will include:
Guide and support engineers through the patent process, from initial idea to issued patent
Review inventions with engineers to help identify and develop high value concepts as needed
Collaborate with inventors to create detailed invention disclosures
Evaluate invention patentability by performing prior art searches and researching related technologies
Work with patent attorneys and engineers to develop robust patent documents
Train local staff on internal intellectual property process, facilitate sharing of best practices
Facilitate ideation and invention development workshops
Invention disclosure status tracking & reporting
Keep current with automotive and technology news and trends for use in evaluating invention value
Analyze patent data to identify trends and process improvement opportunities
Assist in new feature and technology development through innovation activities
Create and present technical reports as necessary
Plan and monitor project budgets
Compensation: $30-33.30/hour
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.

Skills and Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineer or Science
1+ years in a similar position
Strong written and oral communication skills
Proficiency with MS Office, specifically PowerPoint and Excel
Experience working in the automotive industry
