Vegetation Planner
Job Description:
Inspect and assess vegetation in the right-of-ways for compliance standards and construction work plans
Communicate the reasons and benefits of utility vegetation line clearance to property owners
Notify property owners of vegetation clearance work to be performed
Assist with permitting for DOT, railroads, and municipalities etc.
Travel to assist across all regions
Handle customer complaints related to the scheduled work and/or completed pruning
Check trees for hazard or danger potential
Communicate daily with the foresters, contractors, and general public
Document information for vegetation management program using GIS based software
Perform duties in a manner that will promote and maintain good public relations
Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Job Qualifications:
Candidate(s) will be required to meet the following requirements:
Must have solid tree identification skills and ability to read maps
Must have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong problem solving abilities, the ability to multi-task and attention to detail
Must be able to work alone, outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain
Experience working with data collection devices and GIS software
Bachelors or Associates in Forestry, Arboriculture or Horticulture a plus
Inventory or surveying experience a plus
ISA Certified Arborist qualification or able to obtain within 6 months
Safe driving history
Able to operate 4x4 vehicle
Must be able to work alone in an outdoor field environment; vehicle and foot patrol of utility transmission power lines; remote locations as well as urban, city environment; physical demand and travel from site to site.
