Position Summary: The Shelter Aide ensures overnight clients receive quality services by providing assistance while they are in residence at The Salvation Army program.
Essential Responsibilities:
Assist shelter clients with their daily needs while they are in residence in the shelter
Assist with meal and snack preparation, serving, and clean-up
Assure the shelter area is kept clean and orderly
Assure residents follow shelter policies and procedures
Transport or arrange for transportation of clients needing medical care
Facilitate referrals to area social service agencies to move client toward discharge from the shelter
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
High School diploma / GED, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
Maintain strict client confidentiality
Learn and adhere to The Salvation Army Social Services Code of Ethics
Adhere to professional codes of ethics as they apply to professional licensing
Understand and adhere to professional boundaries within and outside of the organization
Demonstrate a continued effort to increase self-awareness and to better understand other cultures and issues of social justice, and promote racial understanding and reconciliation
Computer Skills:
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365
Working knowledge of TEAMS and SharePoint
Basic computer skills
Certificates and Licenses:
Must have and maintain a current valid driver's license and pass the Salvation Army Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
Complete Safe From Harm training, and keep current as needed
