Temporary Housekeeping Service Attendants are responsible for cleaning and maintaining all rooms, suites, and indoor common areas at client properties. Duties include vacuuming floors, dusting, laundering and replenishing linens and towels, removing trash, stripping soiled linens, disinfecting bathrooms, washing windows, reporting lost and found items to Management, assisting with storage closets, performing weekly service checks, and emptying trash, lint traps, and vents.
Attendants may occasionally use a company utility vehicle (e.g., golf cart) or company automobile (under 8,000 lbs. and under 15 passengers, such as an SUV, van, or pickup truck) to transport tools and necessary items within the worksite. Additional duties include walking assigned buildings or floors to ensure areas are free of linen, trash, or equipment; moving furniture and making guest deliveries as directed; assisting with linen inventories, including sorting and cleaning dirty linen/terry; folding or ironing clean linen/terry; and delivering linen supply bags to units.
Employees assist in transporting housekeeping tools such as vacuums, brooms, mops, rags, and other cleaning supplies to guest rooms or units. Vehicles or utility vehicles may be used to deliver linens, terry, cleaning tools, and other necessary items within the resort or campus. Vehicle use is limited to on-site, work-related purposes only and does not include transporting guests or providing valet services. Guest deliveries may also be completed on foot. Only employees with valid driver’s licenses and employer authorization may operate vehicles; a license is not required if otherwise qualified.
Vehicle use accounts for less than 5% of job duties. This role is primarily a housekeeping/cleaning position in a hotel or resort environment and is not a driving or transportation role.
Employer will consider for employment any person who possesses at least three (3) months of experience preferred but not required at a hotel, resort, private club or vacation homes; other hospitality or cleaning experience can be substituted. Will report directly to the Executive Housekeeper.
Worksite: All work performed at worksite(s) noted above. Workers are assigned to a single primary worksite per day, however based on business need worker may be assigned additional tasks at other worksites within the MSA. Employer will provide transportation to additional worksite location. Daily commuting time to worksites is less than one (1) hour.
Transportation: Daily transportation is provided to and from worksite.
Training: On-the-job training is provided.
Wage: Piece rate position paid on a basis of rooms cleaned, rather than on an hourly basis. Guaranteed prevailing wage rate per hour stated above and paid weekly in any given workweek when total piece-rate compensation does not meet prevailing wage.
Overtime: Overtime is available and guaranteed at no less than the hourly rate stated above. Depending upon worksite location and other discretionary factors, employee may be eligible for additional compensation in the form of an additional bonus at the discretion of the Employer. Example of discretionary bonuses may include: employee referral, or performance bonuses.
Schedule: No less than 35 hours per week; varied shifts between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.; Monday through Sunday; schedule varies. In accordance with applicable Michigan state law, Earned Sick Time Act 338, employers are required to provide earned sick time to their employees. The amount of paid sick leave provided may vary depending on the size of the business.
A single workweek will be used to compute wages due.
Federal requirements of Employer for workers hired with H-2B Visa authorization and all corresponding U.S. workers. Employer will consider all qualified candidates, however housing is offered to those individuals who reside 100 Miles or more outside of the work location that are willing to temporarily relocate to the work location. If hired, Employer is willing to facilitate housing accommodations through a third party or through Employer owned housing. Housing is limited to the period of time of temporary employment which is no more than nine (9) months and is on a first come first serve basis. Cost of housing if accepted, is no more than $175 per week payable to third party housing provider via voluntary payroll deduction as allowed by law. If housing is utilized, an agreement for housing will be required with the third-party provider. A security deposit of up to $200.00 is required, of which $50.00 is nonrefundable. Employee shall pay the deposit at $10.00 per week via voluntary payroll deduction (as allowed by law) until the deposit is paid in full, and in no event shall the total deposit payment exceed $200.00. If housing is left in good condition, $150.00 will be refunded to employee in the same method as paid.
All deductions from paycheck required by law will be made.
If the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, Employer will pay directly for and/or reimburse workers for transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, Employer will provide or pay for worker’s reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another Employer. Employer will pay directly for and/or reimburse workers for all reasonable inbound transportation and subsistence costs within the first workweek. Employer will pay directly for and/or reimburse workers for all reasonable outbound transportation and subsistence costs during the last workweek. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of $16.78 per day during travel to a maximum of $68.00 per day with receipts.
Employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period.
The Employer will provide workers at no charge all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job.
H-2B workers will be reimbursed in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by government (excluding passport fees).
