Responsible for performing cost reduction activities as it relates to product warranty, product design, material selection and manufacturing of products used for production of final assemblies for the Company’s products in North, Central and South America; leading engineering analysis to determine root cause and lead countermeasure activities to reduce warranty claims through negotiations with OEM’s or improving product design to better provide products that are more robust in the actual market conditions; leading engineering analysis to reduce the cost of products utilized in the production of automotive anti-vibration rubber products produced by Sumitomo Riko Group (SRK) worldwide affiliates; interfacing between design engineering facilities, SRK manufacturing production engineering and supplier engineering to analyze cost reduction through product design improvement, material costs or process improvement; leading activities with customer engineering to promote cost reduction ideas generated and internal analysis supporting the activity; negotiating implementation of cost reduction ideas through running change or consideration for next model development activities; utilize and apply knowledge of VAVE, Cost Control Methodologies, AVS Products, Project Management, Microsoft Office Suite, NX 10, BOM and Root Cause Analysis to complete duties; determining if horizontal deployment is feasible for similar products or vehicle platforms; communicating with the Company’s internal personnel for annual cost reduction requests with priority by high warranty cost parts and secondarily for product cost reduction through value analysis / value engineering (VA/VE) with priority given to highest volume and least profit margin products; supporting negotiations with customers and suppliers regarding AVS product cost reduction and the collection of manufacturing improvements; preparing weekly reports and trip reports to communicate cost reduction activities to provide to management; engaging in day-to-day management and supervision of the SRK products cost reduction including project management reflecting project cost reduction targets versus actual and administer time management designation of tasks and actual status of task completions; and developing plans for training subordinates of the Cost Control Engineering Management (AVS) and manages progress and results.

Salary: $129,240 per year

Education: Bachelors – Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or in a related field of study (will accept equivalent foreign degree).

Experience: Three (3) years in the position above, as a Product Design Engineer, as a Senior Technical Lead, as a Design Engineer, as a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, or in a related occupation.
