Job Title: 3rd Shift Production Supervisor
Job Description
The Production Supervisor will play a pivotal role in overseeing production on the off-shift while collaborating with manufacturing and production leaders to enhance performance on the manufacturing floor. This role involves planning, scheduling, setting up, and running manufacturing activities, as well as leading the dispersal and distribution of materials. The position is hands-on, requiring about 70%-80% of the time on the production floor, making it ideal for those drawn to practical, on-the-ground work.
Responsibilities
Maintain manufacturing production processes by observing process volumes and recommending improvements.
Monitor progress, expedite material flow and work results, and resolve problems to ensure smooth production.
Improve manufacturing process workflow by eliminating stoppages and analyzing delays.
Record manufacturing production by completing daily shift reports and calculating yields and recoveries.
Communicate production status, requirements, and problems to the next shift to maintain process flow.
Maintain a working relationship with the union by complying with the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
Ensure a safe, secure, and healthy manufacturing process environment by adhering to organizational standards and legal regulations.
Oversee manufacturing outcomes by selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, and counseling associates.
Plan, monitor, and appraise job contributions, adhering to policies and procedures.
Essential Skills
Engineering experience in an automotive manufacturing environment, preferably 2+ years.
General understanding of assembly or machining processes.
Leadership or supervision experience.
High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
Interest in working on the manufacturing floor rather than a desk.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with a union is nice to have.
Work Environment
The position is a 3rd shift role, with about 70%-80% of the time spent on the production floor. The team consists of 3 other engineers within a larger team of 35 individuals. Typically, the work week is 45 hours, with the potential for up to 50 hours during busy times. The position offers exposure to various manufacturing processes including assembly, machining, and welding. The location manufactures axles for large heavy-duty trucks for major automotive companies. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $38.46/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
