Assist in the delivery of direct care and support operational functions in the Pre/post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at the Cardiovascular Center.
- Perform delegated clinical or laboratory procedures
- Monitor, set up and maintain the operations of clinical equipment
- May monitor patient status, record and document vital signs.
- May transport patients to and from designated locations
- May assist with admitting and discharge procedures
- May administer medications
- Process patient care orders using the electronic ordering system may be required in certain areas
- Assist in preparing the PACU for patients
- Assist with patient admission and care
- Setting up and stocking
- Assist with preparation including cleaning, pulling trash, linen and reorganizing
- Obtain and deliver supplies and equipment from other departments
- Precept new hires as assigned
- Demonstrate appropriate infection control and universal precautions
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Graduation from high school or an equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
- Reasonable knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in laboratory and/or patient care activities is desirable.
- Recent PACU/OR experience.
- Graduation from a Medical Assistant program, Certified Nursing Assistant.
- Nursing student.
- Hours: Full time, 40hrs
- Shift: Days, M-F, 4:50am-1:20pm, with rotating weekend call
This position requires moderate standing/walking, as well as lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring of patients
