Plan and direct customer program engineering and technical activities across assigned OEMs for automotive supplier with focus on product engineering, manufacturing engineering coordination, validation leadership, and engineering team management. Build and maintain customer intimacy with customer engineering representatives. Establish and maintain engineering budgets and gross cost targets per program. Manage Customer Engineering team hierarchically. Ensure communication within extended technical teams, production plants, offshore engineering centers, and suppliers. Coach and follow-up with team members to achieve performance standards. Oversee engineering activities in customer programs including quality, cost, delivery and people (QCDP) objectives. Lead technical concept definition for new business acquisition. Ensure product and process definition meets technical needs and internal engineering standards. Ensure proper completion of Design Validation and Process Validation testing to OEM specifications. Coordinate all engineering activities related to customer programs and new acquisition studies. Act as the primary contact for assigned OEMs on engineering matters. Ensure programs are staffed with qualified mechanical/manufacturing engineering resources. Support engineering involvement in product innovation and new technology transfer related to automotive components. Participate in development of organizational objectives, plans, and policies. Perform supervisory responsibilities such as hiring, reviews, directing work, and staff development. Ensure program-related duties comply with the Program Management System. Capture lessons learned and contribute to knowledge capitalization. Support competency and career development of engineering team members. 10% international and domestic travel.
