Lead Supplier Development Engineers with Rivian Automotive, LLC in Plymouth, MI. Provide quality support for aspects related to Rivian’s purchased supplier parts for the final product. In charge of one commodity group and work based on launch readiness at supplier using data to drive a successful launch. Review production lines to ensure proper use of the job element sheets. Perform supplier quality investigation and process audits to lead supplier improvement. Initiate and follow up on corrective actions and verify effectiveness on site. Review and diagnose defective material rejected during the supplier manufacturing process. Cross-functional collaboration for PPAP process readiness. Track and manage quality key performance indicators (Scrap, downtime, sort closure times.) Perform quality confirmations by validating against drawing and other quality control documentation, conduct inspection at Rivian’s manufacturing facility/installation locations, review supplier product performance specifications, and perform fit up validation on vehicles or check fixtures. Use different quality system portals within the Rivian system to track PPAP elements for supplier approval. Domestic and international travel required approx. 60 -70% of the time.
RQMTS: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Industrial Engineering or a closely related field and 2 years of experience in any occupation involving quality engineering. Experience must include working on: Geometric Design and Tolerancing (GD&T) and datum structures; IATF16949:2016; Metrology, Inspection Methods, and Equipment; Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), and Statistical Process Control (SPC) & Control plans (CP); 8D problem solving methodology including Fishbone diagrams and 5 Why’s.
