Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Field Coordinator/Construction Manager to oversee major water and wastewater infrastructure renewal projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for comprehensive construction inspection, administration, and management coordination, ensuring all contractor activities adhere to plans and specifications. The role involves reviewing onsite construction work for compliance with Contract Drawings and Specifications, facilitating communication between the Owner and Contractor, and ensuring construction activities do not disrupt Owner operations. Additionally, the position involves assisting with construction administration tasks such as RFIs, RFCs, field orders, claims, submittal and schedule reviews, meetings, and payment applications. The ideal candidate will be able to supervise and train Field Coordinators and independently coordinate small to mid-sized projects or portions of larger projects.
Responsibilities
Monitor and manage contractor activities to ensure adherence to plans and specifications.
Review onsite construction work for compliance with Contract Drawings and Specifications.
Facilitate communication between the Owner and Contractor to ensure smooth operations.
Assist with construction administration tasks such as RFIs, RFCs, field orders, claims, submittal and schedule reviews, meetings, and payment applications.
Supervise and train Field Coordinators.
Coordinate small to mid-sized projects or portions of larger projects independently.
Essential Skills
8 or more years of experience in a RPR, Observer/Inspector role.
Associate or Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent experience in water or wastewater infrastructure construction.
Experience with construction management and civil engineering.
Ability to receive Certified Construction Manager (CCM) designation within one year of employment.
Demonstrated experience in managing and mentoring Inspection Staff.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Minimum of 10 years of general experience in construction administration and observation, preferably in water/wastewater treatment facility construction.
Strong understanding of technical disciplines related to water and wastewater treatment and conveyance.
Work Environment
Work will primarily be onsite at water and wastewater treatment facilities, with office work in a nearby trailer or at an office in Southfield. Occasional travel to job sites around Detroit and surrounding areas is required. The current office lease is set to end at the year, with plans to move to the Troy area. The role involves year-round work, without seasonal interruptions, and offers career growth potential in a large firm with a national footprint. Salaried employees receive straight time overtime pay.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $140000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
