Job Title: Controls EngineerJob Description
This Controls Engineer will be responsible for projects from cradle to grave - working on designs, programs, and overall support of automated machinery.
This role configures and commissions servo and motion control systems, tests and debugs equipment, and troubleshooting software, electrical, and machine integration issues.
Additionally - this person will provide remote support to customers and field service teams, assist with machine startups and customer training.
Travel (less than 5%)
Responsibilities
Program, modify, and maintain PLC applications
Design, develop, and maintain HMI applications
Configure and commission servo and motion control systems
Test, debug, and validate automated equipment
Troubleshoot controls and machine problems
Assist with machine startups at customer sites when needed
Read/redline, and eventually create electrical schematics to support design
Occasionally travel (less than 5% of the time) to customer sites to support field service, commissioning, and training.
Essential Skills
1+ years in automation/controls (can be from internship/coops)
PLC programming experience
HMI development
Experience with machine startup, commissioning, and debugging
Reading and creating electrical schematics
Strong communication skills and comfortability working directly with customers
"Nice to have" Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
Experience with machine builder environments or custom automation projects.
Experience with controls projects from start to finish
Electrical schematics design
Interest in taking ownership of projects and seeing them through all phases of development.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sturgis, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $31.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
