Behavior Technician (BT/RBT) – Job Description

Position Summary

Brookside Pediatric Therapy is seeking compassionate, energetic, and dedicated Behavior Technicians (BTs/RBTs) to join our growing pediatric ABA team.

The Behavior Technician provides direct, one-on-one ABA therapy to children with autism and other developmental disabilities under the supervision and guidance of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). The role focuses on helping children build communication, social, adaptive, academic, and daily living skills while reducing behaviors that interfere with learning and independence.

Brookside provides center-based and community-based pediatric therapy services and emphasizes collaboration among families and the clinical team.

Essential Responsibilities

• Provide direct 1:1 ABA therapy to children under the supervision of a BCBA.

• Implement individualized treatment and behavior intervention plans as directed by the BCBA.

• Teach and support communication, social, play, self-help, academic, and daily living skills.

• Use evidence-based ABA strategies, including prompting, reinforcement, shaping, modeling, and discrete-trial instruction when appropriate.

• Collect accurate and timely data on client progress, skill acquisition, and behavior.

• Follow behavior protocols and clinical recommendations established by the supervising BCBA.

• Assist with implementing behavior-reduction strategies in a safe, respectful, and clinically appropriate manner.

• Maintain professional and accurate session documentation.

• Communicate client progress, concerns, and relevant observations to the supervising BCBA.

• Participate in team meetings, training, supervision, and ongoing professional development.

• Collaborate respectfully with BCBAs, SLPs, OTs, caregivers, and other members of the child's care team.

• Maintain client confidentiality and follow all company, clinical, safety, and compliance policies.

• Maintain a safe, positive, and engaging environment for clients.

• Support Brookside's mission of providing compassionate, individualized, family-centered care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.

• Experience working with children, individuals with autism, or individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred but not required.

• Previous ABA or RBT experience is a plus.

• Must demonstrate strong communication, patience, reliability, and professionalism.

• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

• Ability to follow clinical instructions and accurately collect data.

• Must be comfortable working directly with children and participating in active, play-based sessions.

• RBT certification is preferred; candidates who are not yet certified may be considered and trained according to Brookside's requirements.
