Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Journeyman Plumber / Certified Backflow Tester to perform backflow prevention testing, inspections, repairs, installations, and general plumbing services. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills, hands-on plumbing experience, and current qualifications to test and service backflow prevention assemblies.
This position requires someone who can work independently in the field, accurately diagnose plumbing and backflow issues, complete required testing documentation, and provide professional service to commercial and residential customers.
Responsibilities
- Perform backflow prevention assembly testing and certification
- Inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, and replace backflow prevention devices
- Work with RPZ, double-check, pressure vacuum breaker (PVB), and other backflow assemblies
- Complete required backflow testing reports and documentation
- Install and repair backflow preventers and related plumbing components
- Diagnose plumbing problems and determine appropriate repairs
- Perform commercial and residential plumbing service and repair
- Install and repair piping, valves, fixtures, faucets, water lines, and other plumbing systems
- Perform leak detection and plumbing troubleshooting
- Read blueprints, specifications, and plumbing diagrams when required
- Ensure plumbing and backflow work complies with applicable codes and safety requirements
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding repairs, testing results, and recommended services
- Maintain tools, testing equipment, materials, and company vehicle
- Complete service tickets and job documentation accurately
- Follow OSHA and company safety procedures
Qualifications
- Journeyman Plumber License/Certification required
- Current Backflow Prevention Tester Certification required
- Previous experience performing backflow testing, repair, and installation
- Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, valves, piping, and backflow prevention equipment
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair backflow assemblies
- Experience with commercial plumbing strongly preferred
- Ability to complete testing paperwork accurately
- Strong mechanical and problem-solving skills
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Ability to work independently and manage service calls
- Professional communication and customer-service skills

Ideal Candidate: An experienced Journeyman Plumber who already holds a valid Backflow Testing/Backflow Prevention Certification and can independently test, diagnose, repair, replace, and document backflow prevention devices while also handling general plumbing service work.
