Qualifications:
The Executive Director should have an academic background in business management, public administration or related area as well as track record of management experience, leadership ability, excellent interpersonal skills, innovation, effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to represent ENFIA and its mission and goals in a professional manner.
Education and Experience:
• The Executive Director will be thoroughly committed to ENFIA's mission. All candidates should have proven leadership,coaching and relationship management experience. Concrete demonstrable experience and other qualifications include:
• Education and/or experience in business or administration or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in program coordination, preferably within a non- profit organization.
• Record of effectively leading regionally and/or nationally scaling a performance- and outcomes-based organization and staff; ability to point to specific examples of having developed and operationalized strategies that have taken an organization to the next stage of growth.
• Past success working with a board of directors, with the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships or equivalent.
• Experience in public speaking and group facilitation.
Skills:
• Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation.
• Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage, and develop high-performance teams, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget.
• Strong marketing, public relations, and fund raising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultural diversity of forest contacts and partners.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.

Technical Proficiency:
• Familiarity with digital tools for program delivery, such as virtual tour platforms and social media.

• Proficiency with grants, agreements and contracts.
• Proficiency in accounting and the use of accounting software.

Location:
• The current office is located in Oscoda, Michigan. The Executive Director is not required to be based in Oscoda and may work from another location, provided it is in reasonable proximity to a U.S. Forest Service office within the ENFIA service area. This includes offices associated with the Allegheny, Monongahela, Huron-Manistee, Green Mountain & Finger Lakes, Hiawatha, Ottawa, Superior, and Chippewa National Forests.
• We expect the new Executive Director will spend approximately 4 weeks at the Oscoda office in March 2027 and attend the annual meeting in Indiana. Current staff will train the new Executive Director on current processes and methods. ENFIA will cover negotiated travel and expenses for the duration if the new Executive Director is not located near Oscoda. Travel and virtual meetings with outlets expected throughout the year and attendance at the ENFIA annual meeting and association conferences.
