The Supplier Quality organization has an opening for a Supplier Quality Engineer within the Body Exterior Vision Systems organization.
This position will require strong interface at all levels of the Corporation and direct interface with the production assembly plant. The SQE position will assist their respective supply base to assure processes and quality of parts produced meet and exceed all expectations. The role will have direct involvement with the full life cycle of components from early development, sourcing, launch phase, and into production.
The SQE will assume cross functional development with engineering, purchasing and the supplier to reduce warranty costs and achieve continuous improvement. Also included will be cross functional work with Engineering and Purchasing on items such as Commodity Strategies for components under his/her scope of responsibility.
As an SQE your role is accountable to ensure all supplied parts are robust, repeatable and conform to dimensional and performance requirements. We strive for best-in-class quality and warranty by developing partnerships with suppliers who provide zero defects and exceed customer expectations. Our supply base, both domestic and international, is a critical component to our success, making this a highly visible role. Responsibilities of the SQE team also include providing on-site support at Stellantis assembly plants as required, working cross functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Purchasing to ensure proper designs, suppliers, and manufacturing processes are selected, driving change within both plant manufacturing and component suppliers to resolve component issues, drive warranty reduction, and oversee continuous improvement efforts. As a truly global company much work will involve collaboration with colleagues across all regions of the globe.
Job responsibilities include but not limited to
Perform supplier quality systems and process audits and lead supplier improvement/development programs
Establish close relationships with assigned suppliers and actively drive continuous improvement activities
Initiate and follow-up on corrective actions and verify effectiveness on-site
Participation in launch teams, lead and coordinate APQP/PPAP deliverables for purchased components within the supplier quality group
Lead and support supplier APQP and PPAP activities to ensure all deliverables are being fulfilled
Work with Engineering and Supplier organizations to alleviate discrepancies in product specifications and evaluate cost reduction opportunities
Present program status to management and executive leadership both within and outside of supplier quality
Assist in educating suppliers on STELLANTIS systems and requirements
Self-starter, highly motivated and good communication skills
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
Minimum of 8 years' experience in automotive product development and quality
Strong understanding of automotive systems and standards
Proven experience in mentoring and training technical teams
Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Proficient in statistical analysis, regression, hypothesis testing, and DOE
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage projects to successful, on-time delivery
Strategic thinker with the ability to align initiatives with broader business goals
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree
Knowledge of warranty analytics, field failure analysis, and customer satisfaction metrics
Certified Six Sigma Green or Black Belt (ASQ, IASSC, or equivalent) with 4+ years of experience
Experience with automotive standards (e.g., ISO 26262, IATF 16949)
Familiarity with Quality and Systems Engineering
Technical experience with injection molding, compression molding, glass, lighting.
Strong conflict resolution skills
Effective written and verbal communication skills
