Scope and Purpose of Position
|
In accordance with the Agency’s mission statement, Code of Ethics, policies and procedures, State of Michigan licensing and COA standards; the Transporter/Case Support will ensure a safe and healthy transport for all resident appointments. This role will be flexible to meet the drop-off and pick-up needs related to the resident population. In addition, this role will assist with case support, providing additional case aide services to support the residents in a variety of capacities.

Tasks of the Position
|
· Transports residents to appointments or engagements off premises.
· Adheres to all required traffic laws and guidelines when transporting residents and utilizing agency vehicles.
· Assumes responsibility of the safety of all passengers during transport.
· Displays professional demeanor at all times when serving as a representative of the agency on and off campus.
· Assists with case aide duties when not needed for transportation purposes.
· Assists the Housing Specialist or Care Path Navigator with case related duties as necessary.
· Reports any vehicle related concerns to the Director of Security.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
|
· Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills.
· Ability to maintain a sense of calm and control in difficult situations, minimizing panic in others.
· Safe driving habits and skillset.
· Ability to physically complete transportation needs of all distances, including potentially long-distance driving, if necessary, which may require sitting for long periods.
· Ability to complete all driving tasks 24/7 including daytime and nighttime driving.
· Ability to engage with people from various diverse backgrounds.
· Maintains flexibility in work assignments to support the ability to perform two job roles as needed in each area.

Supervisory Responsibility
QUALIFICATIONS (Education / Training)
|
Required:
· High School Diploma or GED.
· Minimum 1 year driving experience in customer service, patient care or other related capacity.
· Valid Michigan driver’s license in good standing with no restrictions.
· Must maintain a status of “acceptable driver” by the agency’s liability insurance carrier.
· Must provide and maintain a clean driving record with no infractions.
Preferred:
· (2) two years’ driving experience in a customer-related area.
· Valid commercial (CDL class B, or C) license.
· (1) one year of experience working with the veteran population, homeless population, or transitional living residential care in some capacity.
· (1) one year of experience working with the human trafficking population.
