Job Description:
The Warehouse Efficiency Specialist is responsible for optimizing warehouse operations through the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of warehouse management system (WMS) rules, warehouse flow processes, slotting strategies, picking methodologies, and facility layouts. This role focuses on increasing productivity, improving inventory movement, reducing operational costs, and enhancing service levels by analyzing warehouse performance and driving process improvements across all warehouse functions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Warehouse Process Optimization
Analyze current warehouse operations and identify opportunities to improve productivity, throughput, and accuracy.
Develop and implement best practices for receiving, storage, replenishment, picking, packing, and shipping activities.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and other operational excellence methodologies.
Monitor operational KPIs and recommend corrective actions to improve performance.
Warehouse Management System (WMS) Administration
Configure, maintain, and optimize warehouse management system rules and workflows.
Evaluate and update picking, replenishment, allocation, and put-away logic to maximize efficiency.
Partner with IT and operations teams to test, validate, and deploy system enhancements.
Ensure WMS configurations align with business requirements and operational goals.
Warehouse Flow & Layout Design
Assess warehouse traffic patterns, inventory movement, and space utilization.
Design and implement warehouse layouts that improve material flow, storage density, and labor efficiency.
Develop slotting strategies based on product velocity, order profiles, and inventory characteristics.
Recommend racking, storage, and equipment improvements to support operational growth.
Picking Efficiency Improvement
Analyze order fulfillment processes and productivity metrics.
Implement and optimize picking methodologies such as zone picking, batch picking, wave picking, and pick-to-cart processes.
Identify opportunities to reduce travel time and improve picker productivity.
Develop labor standards and productivity measurements to support operational excellence.
Data Analysis & Reporting
Collect and analyze operational data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
Create dashboards, reports, and performance metrics to monitor warehouse effectiveness.
Conduct time studies and workflow analyses to support process improvement recommendations.
Present findings and recommendations to warehouse leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
Project Management
Lead warehouse optimization projects from concept through implementation.
Coordinate with operations, engineering, IT, inventory management, and supply chain teams.
Support facility expansion, automation, and warehouse redesign initiatives.
Develop implementation plans, timelines, and success metrics for improvement projects.
Training & Change Management
Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
Train warehouse personnel on new processes, layout changes, and system enhancements.
Drive adoption of continuous improvement initiatives and operational best practices.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Picking productivity and labor efficiency.
Order fulfillment cycle time.
Warehouse space utilization.
Inventory accuracy.
Travel distance reduction.
On-time shipment performance.
WMS process compliance.

Job Requirements:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Logistics, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant warehouse operations experience may be considered.
Experience
3-7+ years of experience in warehouse operations, distribution, logistics, industrial engineering, or supply chain optimization.
Experience working with warehouse management systems (WMS); Oracle experience preferred.
Proven track record of implementing warehouse process improvements and increasing operational efficiency.
Experience with warehouse layout design, slotting optimization, and labor productivity improvement initiatives.
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of warehouse operations and material flow concepts.
Experience with WMS configuration and rule management.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Familiarity with warehouse automation technologies and material handling equipment preferred.
