Journeyman Machine Repairman - Whitehall, MI
Job Description
Seeking a skilled Machine Repairman to add to our growing team. This role focuses on machine repair and industrial maintenance in a large manufacturing facility. You will troubleshoot, tear down, rebuild, install, and maintain a wide range of production equipment, including CNC machines, metal stamping presses, grinders, and other industrial machinery. Working closely with additional skilled trades, you will ensure equipment reliability and safe operation through mechanical repairs, rigging, and general millwright duties. Strong communication skills are essential in this union environment to coordinate effectively with teammates and plant personnel.
Responsibilities
Perform machine repair, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance on industrial machinery and equipment.
Tear down, rebuild, and install machinery and equipment to support production needs and facility projects.
Diagnose and repair motors, valves, pumps, gears, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, chains, grinders, and automation components.
Rig and move machinery as needed for equipment relocation, installation, and replacement projects.
Respond to emergency maintenance calls to minimize downtime and restore equipment to service quickly.
Use welding skills, when applicable, to support repairs, fabrication, and equipment modifications.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
Journeyman Card or 8+ years of industrial machine repair experience.
Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical and industrial equipment.
Welding experience is a plus and beneficial for repairs and fabrication.
Mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and repair complex machinery.
Hands-on experience working with hydraulic systems, including repair and maintenance.
Hands-on experience working with pneumatic systems, including repair and maintenance.
Industrial maintenance experience, including general equipment maintenance and repair.
Experience working with motors, valves, pumps, gears, chains, grinders, and automation components.
Rigging experience for moving, relocating, and installing machinery safely.

Work Environment

Company transportation is provided for project work, and company vehicles may be available after a training period for those who progress into foreman or lead roles.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
