Days/Hours:
Monday-Friday, 8 hours per day estimated, or as determined by production and school schedule needs. Work schedule and number of hours subject to change and to be determined by F&N Director. May include assignment to other program facilities as determined by service, production and personnel needs.
Compensation:
- $17.27 per hour

Summary:
Prepare and serve nutritious and attractive meals for consumption in a school cafeteria, maintain required records and a clean, safe and efficient work and serving environment. This position is the leader for a production and service kitchen serving the Washtenaw Intermediate School District students. The nature of this position requires frequent communication and discussion with the Food & Nutrition Director/Designee. The kitchen manager reports directly to the F&N Director, and all discussions require confidentiality.
Essential Job Functions
Lead meal meal production and presentation, including special diets
Maintain high standards of sanitation and cleanliness in food production and personal practices. Demonstrate high levels of personal interaction, organizational skills, and customer relations in a service organization.
Ability to:
- Interact with students in an organized, thoughtful and positive manner
- Lead others with a positive attitude and helpful demeanor
- Meet the needs of students and staff in a pleasant and timely fashion
- Communicate and resolve customer issues effectively
- Apply National School Lunch/Breakfast regulations
- Learn and operate kitchen equipment
- Compile and maintain appropriate records and forms
- Utilize a computer as a tool of operation
- Correctly perform basic arithmetic skills
- Work independent of continuous supervision
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Successfully complete Serve-Safe Certification Class within 6 months of hire, if required
- Float to other locations as needed
- Complete continuing education including PPD days as required
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director or designate
Education and/or Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Previous commercial food service experience
- Previous experience leading others, preferred
Physical Demands
The physical demands of this job require bending, standing for long periods, and the ability to repeatedly lift 50 lbs of weight using a team lift approach. An F&N employee must be able to work safely around all kitchen equipment, cooking, steaming and holding units, knives and a dishwasher.
